Laika Candle Studio was founded in late 2023 by Bavani Krishna, a self-taught candle artist who discovered candle making during a time of healing and reflection.

The studio is lovingly named after our first pup, Laika—our baby—who joined our family shortly after we got married. Laika was fun-loving, sensitive, intelligent, and a constant source of joy. In June 2023, we lost him to hemangiosarcoma. Though his life was short, the love and lessons he left behind continue to guide us.

During the healing process, candle making became a source of calm and comfort. What began as a simple gesture—handmade candles for a family celebration—soon revealed itself as something more. Creating candles brought back moments of peace and joy, and it felt like Laika’s way of keeping our love alive through light. From that moment, Laika Candle Studio was born.

Our designs reflect themes of warmth, remembrance, and beauty. As an anthophile, floral forms—especially peonies—naturally found their way into our creations. Every candle is thoughtfully handcrafted with love, intention, and inspiration.

As our journey evolved, we have partnered with supportive local businesses to share our creations and was overwhelmed by the love and encouragement our artwork received.
